Understanding OERs Course

I designed and developed this course using ADDIE and Kirkpatrick Levels of Evaluation.  I applied adult learning theory to create an interactive, self-paced, self-enroll course using Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, and Screencastify and hosted the course on Canvas LMS. I worked closely with an SME at the Vermont Agency of Education to create this course so teachers could learn about Open Education Resources and how to use the platform OER Commons.

  • Tools: Articulate Storyline, Articulate360, Screencastify, Canvas LMS, WeVideo

  • Role: Sole Instructional designer and eLearning Developer

  • Storyboard and Outline

Course Critique

The biggest critique of this course is it's not very memorable.  The material feels a little dry at points, too much fact stating then testing memory retention versus grabbing the learner's attention through an authentic and engaging learning experience.  I would probably write out scenarios on what I want learners to be able to do at the end of this course and then use those scenarios to build modules in a gamified way where they collect points or badges along the way.  This course was completely voluntary so it should be a more enjoyable learning experience if one is volunteering time to take this course.
